Is the "senseless violence" of the headlines manufactured to spread fear and increase the powers and budgets of the police? Are "serial killings" in actuality related to the cold market processes of drugs, sex and arms trafficking, and to the activities of satanic cults? Are top police officials and celebrities engaged in gruesome human sacrifices behind the facades of their upscale Hollywood homes?
In June 1980, a brutal double murder in Los Angeles threatened to expose horrific truths about the nature of our world.

The bodies of half-sisters Cynthia Chandler, 16, and Gina Moreno, 15 were discovered alongside Ventura Boulevard (near Disney Studios). Both had been sexually violated, and were shot execution-style, with a single .25 caliber bullet in each of their heads. The bodies had been left in almost exactly the same spot as the body of Yolanda Washington and Laura Collins, whose brutal murders were attributed to "serial killers" Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, known as "the Hillside Stranglers."

The girls were runaways who had been staying with a still-unidentified Hollywood producer. Shortly before their disappearance, they were brought to a lavish party by a "friend," Mindy Cohen, whose boyfriend - a wealthy attorney - was the host. The party was reportedly attended by more than one hundred people, including many lawyers, judges and nubile young women. After the party, Cohen took the girls to the home of rock star Rod Stewart and his girlfriend, Swedish actress Britt Ekland. It isn't clear precisely when the girls were killed, but this was the last night that they would be seen alive.

The murders were "troubling," to say the least. Since time immemorial, those on the extreme fringes of conspiracy circles have suggested that the elite are involved in dark satanic practices and carry out human sacrifices behind closed doors from upscale Beverly Hills to inner city Denver. By all appearances, this was a horrifying example that such things may in fact be happening.
Shortly after the disappearances, a woman named Laurie Brigges received a strange phone call from a man who seemed to be trying to obtain a physical description of her brother-in-law, whose business card had been found on one of the victims. This suggests that the police and/or killer(s) were trying to set up a patsy.
Days later, Mindy Cohen received a phone call from a man identifying himself as an LAPD detective who questioned her about the party. She reported the phone call to the LAPD and was told that the mystery caller had no association with them. It was on this date that prostitutes Exxie Wilson and Karen Jones were killed execution style, both shot once in the head with a .25. Their bodies were discovered the following day, although Wilson had been decapitated.

A day after Wilson and Jones were discovered, Cohen received another call from the same man. This time, he told her that he had seen her at the party and threatened that she would be next to die. Several days later, a treasure chest containing Wilson's head - thoroughly cleaned - was discovered. The chest had been manufactured in Juarez, Mexico, [a hotbed of satanism] where [hundreds of women have mysteriously disappeared.]

Wilson and Jones had arrived in L.A. from Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly the Clinton family's base of operations, the previous week. They had been brought by their pimp, Derek Albright, who had previously served time for murder. One of the last places that Wilson had been seen was the Carney's Restaurant, where Bianchi and Buono, "the Hillside Stranglers," had picked up one of their victims.

Three days after the treasure chest was discovered, a group of snake hunters discovered the body of runaway Marnett Comer, 17, near Sylmar, in the San Fernando Valley. She had been missing for three weeks, and had last been seen alive on June 1. Comer was a prostitute who had worked the streets of Sacramento at the time when the brutal murders later attributed to "serial killer" Richard Chase were occurring there. She had confided to her sister that she was going to leave her pimp, and initially detectives believed that her murder was linked to a nationwide prostitution ring.
Two other bodies, which remain unidentified to this day, were discovered that summer. Another prostitute, Charlene Andermann, was viciously stabbed 26 times but miraculously managed to survive.
The killings would end after an anonymous phone call was placed to the police. The caller identified Douglas Clark, who once operated a local auto upholstery, as the murderer. It would later be announced that the call had been placed by Clark's girlfriend and accomplice Carol Bundy.
Angelo Buono, one of "the Hillside Stranglers," operated an auto upholstery only a short drive away. Both Clark and Buono used their upholsteries as fronts for teenage prostitution rings. Clark had visited Buono's upholstery at least once to purchase supplies.

Clark has claimed that one of his numerous past and present "girlfriends" was a roommate of one of the victims attributed to "the Hillside Stranglers." Following his arrest, he and his accomplice Carol Bundy developed a relationship with Veronica Lynn Compton, known as "the Copycat Strangler." Clark and Compton would soon become engaged.

Compton, a playwright and actress whose father was an L.A.-area editorial cartoonist, was arrested on October 2, 1980, for attempted murder in Bellingham, Washington. She had reportedly been trying to commit a 'copycat' killing that would cast doubt on Kenneth Bianchi's guilt in the other murders. Strangely, her victim did not report the assault to police until several days later.
Compton, 23, confided to Bianchi that she had killed before, and that she shared his interest in necrophilia. She had been sexually active from an early age, and had reportedly slept with numerous Hollywood figures, including a lawyer/agent who was later killed in a still-unsolved murder.
All of the links between "the Sunset Strip Killers" and "the Hillside Stranglers" were completely ignored, as were the links between John Wayne Gacy and Robin Gecht.
Clark was arrested at his home and questioned by detectives for more than three hours without the presence of an attorney. He was searched and in his wallet, police discovered a piece of paper with Cindy Chandler's home phone number written on it. Two firearms were confiscated from his home, although a neighbor told police that she had seen him with an Army bag filled with guns.
Clark was charged with multiple counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of being accessory to murder, and three counts of child molestation.
Douglas Clark had been known to boast of plans to set up a secret room in a country home where he would brainwash and keep female sex slaves. He also claimed that he was a professional assassin who had been carrying out contract hits since his adolescent years.
Born in a Navy hospital on March 10, 1948 to Lieutenant Commander Franklyn Clark of the Office of Naval Intelligence, Douglas Clark is indeed the profile of a government assassin.
His family moved frequently, staying for varying periods of time in California, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Japan, which would have provided a cover for training, conditioning and for the travels from 'contract' to 'contract.' It would later emerge that Lt. Cmdr. Clark lived a double life, with another wife and children overseas in Australia.
After his purported "retirement" from military service, Lieutenant Commander Clark moved his family to the Kwajalein Atoll on the Marshall Islands. He was ostensibly employed by the Transport Company of Texas, a thinly-veiled intelligence front with extensive Navy contracts. The family's new home was on an interceptor pad for missiles fired from Vandenberg Air Force Base. After this period overseas, the family returned to their home in Berkeley, California, where Douglas played with the children of Admiral Chester Nimitz, who commanded all Allied land, air and sea forces in the Pacific during World War II. This is an indication of the true pedigree Lt. Cmdr. Clark held in elite naval circles.
The family next moved to India, where Clark recalls a life of luxury, surrounded by household servants. His family then moved to Venezuela and later Australia while he returned to the U.S. to enroll in classes at the prestigious Ecole Internationale de Geneve, an elite preparatory school in Geneva, Switzerland attended by the sons and daughters of royalty, diplomats, and celebrities.

Clark returned to the U.S. and enrolled in further studies at the prestigious Culver Military Academy in Indiana. He joined the campus firearms club, perhaps a 'cover' for further training, and was notorious for collecting films and audiotapes of his sexual adventures, which he liked to share with friends. Clark would leave Culver for Yosemite, California, where he reunited with his family.

Clark would soon enlist in the U.S. Air Force, where he was assigned to radio intelligence. Like many other "serial killers," he was given an early honorable discharge under mysterious circumstances and full benefits. Some of his military records were later reported missing.
In the early seventies, Clark married and established his upholstery business. By 1976, the marriage had ended in divorce and Clark was working at the L.A. Department of Water and Power's Valley Generating Station. His work records reveal that he was once absent for two weeks to recover from knife wounds of an unspecified origin. Could it be that Douglas Clark was indeed a government assassin, performing hits while given 'cover' employment with the city government?
Clark's employment at the Department of Water and Power was ultimately terminated, and that day his co-workers received a very strange phone call from the LAPD. They were warned that Clark was headed there with a shotgun. This turned out to be false and the reasons the call was made have never been explained. Did someone believe this Manchurian candidate had been 'triggered' early?

Clark's accomplice, Carol Bundy, was born on August 26, 1942, the daughter of Charles and Gladys Peters. Charles, an alcoholic, had moved the family from town to town while working as a "troubleshooter" for movie theaters.
Like Hollywood, Carol Bundy's upbringing was a nightmare disguised as a sweet daydream. Psychiatrists found it very difficult to 'break through' the unrealistically idyllic childhood she painted for them. She described various special moments with her parents and viewed her mother as a glamorous and beautiful woman whose magic she yearned for. After hours of questioning, however, a darker picture slowly developed.

A former child actress who had appeared in Miracle on 34th Street, she was subjected to horrific abuse through her childhood. Her sister recalled sitting emotionless - in a dissociative state - while her mother mercilessly beat her. After each beating, she would simply grin. This bears all the earmarks of trauma-based mind control, which aims to induce dissociative states during which the personality is fragmented and various 'alter' personas are conditioned by the programmers.
When she was only fourteen, Carol's mother died under unclear circumstances and the sisters were soon forced to 'replace' their mother in their father's bed. Months later, he remarried and sent the girls to foster homes. Carol attempted suicide, and would do so twice more in later years.

Carol first married at the age of 18, but the union ended in divorce not long afterward. It was around this time that her father was found hanging from a rope, his death unsurprisingly ruled a suicide. Was this simply an abusive, alcoholic family or one of several - perhaps many - multi generational satanic families under the supervision of the intelligence services? Was this why they moved so frequently? Were her parents actually murdered as part of the frequent internal conflicts within these cult networks - or, perhaps, as a deliberate means of inflicting further trauma on Carol, the Manchurian candidate?
It was around this time that she met Richard "Dick" Geis, a writer of science fiction and pornography who edited a bizarre underground "fan-zine." They lived together and at one point he provided her with funds to attend medical school. There are indications that Geis, with whom she developed a lifelong friendship, may have had inside knowledge about the murders. Could Geis have functioned as Carol's 'handler' - representing the cult networks and/or the intelligence agencies behind them - during this period?

If he was, then he would soon be replaced. Bundy moved into an apartment building managed by John Robert "Jack" Murray, a traveling lounge singer who, like Clark, claimed to be a professional assassin and had an unusual ability to attract many women. He was known to carry a 9 mm handgun and a police badge. He had worked undercover for the CIA in Vietnam, ostensibly serving with the Australian Special Forces, and performed assassinations. Clark and Murray developed a close association, and shared many of their numerous girlfriends - including Bundy. Murray's wife, Jeanette, knew of her husband's infidelity and in fact her brother shared girlfriends with the two men.

Jeanette Murray had served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had also suffered a childhood of horrific abuse. Her father, a Navy officer, would frequently beat her, and at one time left her with a dislocated shoulder and a concussion. He "committed suicide" at age 42.

Bundy had two young sons whom she and Clark (and possibly Murray) abused. The two had lured an eleven-year-old "neighbor girl" named Shannon O. into performing various sex acts, modeling for pornography photos, and riding along with Clark while he selected prostitutes. The girl had been sexually abused from a very young age by "a family friend," and her family - apparently fully complicit - had provided her a personal pediatric plastic surgeon - also apparently fully complicit - to mend the damage from her frequent "accidents." What are the chances that Clark and Bundy would be living next door to a family involved with pedophilia? Was the girl from another multi generational satanic family and were they a part of Clark's operations?

Jurors at the trial would be amazed by the level of control Clark wielded over various women, including Bundy. He and Murray were intelligence programmers and were operating one of hundreds of interlinked child prostitution and pornography rings. One of Clark's "girlfriends" was Lydia Crouch, who had an eleven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter who were likely sexually abused by Clark, Bundy and/or Murray. Tammy Spangler, "girlfriend" to Clark and Murray over a four-year period, disappeared while Clark was awaiting trial. The phone records of Bretta Jo "Joey" Lamphier, another of Clark's "girlfriends," revealed that incriminating calls to witnesses, including Mindy Cohen, had been placed from her home. Nancy Smith, another of Clark's "girlfriends," fled to Illinois after the decapitated body of Jack Murray was reportedly discovered in his van.

Murray's head was never found, and it remains a distinct possibility that it was not his body. It was almost certainly not Carol Bundy, acting alone, who overpowered and repeatedly stabbed the ex-military, government assassin before savagely cutting off his head. The State of California, however, holds that it was and has consistently portrayed Murray as simply the last victim in the killing spree when he was in actuality very likely a party to the murders.
The trials of "serial killers" are often reminiscent of Kafka's nightmares, with unprecedented and unorthodox rulings that defy logic and invariably facilitate the pre-ordained conviction. The trial of Douglas Clark was no exception.

Clark's attorney, Maxwell Keith, was a former homicide detective. He had previously represented Leslie Van Houten of the Manson Family. Clark repeatedly petitioned to represent himself and his requests were denied. He was, however, allowed to serve as co-counsel alongside Keith.

The prosecution was led by Robert Jorgensen, who had been an executive with General Electric until he resigned in the sixties to attend law school at U.C. Berkeley during the Summer of Love. The retired defense executive immediately became involved with the anti-war movement at a time when the U.S. intelligence services were engaged in full-scale infiltration and subversion of such groups. After graduation, Jorgensen found employment with the L.A. District Attorney's Office and became known for his hardline conservative views. Jorgensen, a U.S. intelligence asset and likely a programmer, associated virtually exclusively with young, attractive women.
From the outset, it was clear that the decision had already been made. Clark was repeatedly denied contact with Keith. Keith was drunk for most of the case, and had fallen asleep several times while Clark was being cross-examined. On one occasion, his cell was searched and his notes were seized. On another occasion, he was brought into the courtroom in shackles and manacles. Keith delivered a closing argument described as being one of the most pathetic in legal history. He later said, astoundingly, that he had forgotten his case notes at home because he did not expect to argue that day.
Still, there was almost no physical evidence linking Clark to the crimes and much evidence that cast doubt on his guilt. The police had identified other suspects in all of these murders. Semen found in Exxie Wilson's throat came from a type A secretor, whereas Clark had type O blood. Charlene Andermann identified Clark as the man who assaulted her. Her credibility was largely undermined, however, when she first placed the attack in a motel room and later on claimed that it had occurred in a vehicle. It also emerged that she had initially identified another man in both a photo lineup and live lineup, and had consistently described a suspect with a mustache who drove a wood-paneled station wagon.
Investigative criminologist Christopher Berry-Dee argued in Talking With Serial Killers that Clark had an alibi for five of the murders. He also showed that the judge refused to hear testimony from an alibi witness or admit into evidence bank records that appeared to prove that he could not have killed Wilson.

Keith called Carol Bundy as a defense witness but did not inform his client had accepted an immunity deal immediately before she took the stand. She provided a detailed confession that conflicted with her previous two stories, the first given to police in the anonymous call and the second in her sworn confession. The defense attempted to introduce audiotape evidence that would show these contradictions and the judge disallowed it, making the incredible argument that the recordings would be too damaging to the defense. The defense was also unable to challenge her ever-changing story of the murder of Jack Murray, as the accessory after the fact charge against Clark was dropped following a "private conference" in the judge's chambers from which Clark was excluded.
At one point, District Attorney Jorgensen obtained privileged communications between Clark and his attorney. This would normally have resulted in a mistrial, but Jorgensen - a U.S. intelligence asset - simply assured the court that he had not read the communications and was taken at his word.
After closing arguments, despite the sabotage of the defense and the court's clear bias, the first jury vote revealed that two jurors had been holding out for acquittal. Within hours, however, Clark was found guilty on all charges.
Keith called Dr. Donald Lunde to testify for the defense, though Clark and his family all refused to cooperate with him. Lunde, who served in the U.S. Navy, was a professor of psychiatry at Stanford University for decades. He has been involved in MK-ULTRA research, and [seems to surface wherever the specter of mind control is raised.]
He "evaluated" Larry Layton of the People's Temple, who headed the death squad that murdered Congressman Leo Ryan and his entourage at Jonestown in Guyana. He also "evaluated" Patricia Hearst of the Symbionese Liberation Army, who had been brainwashed to assist in bank robberies and given the name "Tania." Both [the People's Temple] and [the Symbionese Liberation Army] were seeded by the U.S. military intelligence services.
He was called as a defense witness for Dan White, who murdered Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk. He was called as a defense witness for John Lindley Frazier, who was accused of killing Dr. Vincent Ohta and his family. He was also called as a defense witness for "serial killers" Ed Kemper and Herb Mullin.
He is usually called by the defense and yet delivers testimony that strongly favoured the prosecution. Mullin actually attempted to stop him from testifying, accusing him of distorting his words. Lunde later wrote in his memoirs that he would typically make summaries of his notes and then destroy the originals following an interview.
At the sentencing phase of Clark's trial, Lunde served in his usual function and provided testimony favorable to the state. Despite the fact that three of the jurors had initially voted to impose a sentence of life without parole, they would soon unanimously move to impose six death penalties.
Clark's brother, Walter, also testified at the sentencing phase. Before taking the stand, their mother had warned him not to reveal any "family secrets."
The day of Bundy's trial, she suddenly withdrew her 'not guilty by reason of insanity' plea and entered two guilty pleas. She was given two terms of twenty-five years to life. Two days later, her husband was found dead of an alleged overdose.
Clark appealed the court's decision. The state was now represented by District Attorney Michael Nash, who had prosecuted "Hillside Strangler" Angelo Buono. The defense retained Dr. Dorothy Lewis as a consultant. When she asked him about abuse in his childhood - about the "family secrets" - he told her: "Get the fuck out the door."
Clark lost his appeal.
